BOILER DESIGN ENGINEER ASME QC


Lead engineer, design and oversee the engineering department of a major manufacturer of industrial and commercial Watertube and Firetube boilers. MUST HAVE BOILER MANUFACTURING AND ENGINEERING EXPERIENCE .  Interpret and comply with code requirements of ASME and other regulatory bodies, heat transfer calculations and proper compliant material selection. Responsibilities adherence to ASME, UL, CSA codes, qualifying managing welding production personnel. Improving and/or modifying existing production methods; researching, developing and testing new products and materials. The position is also responsible for BOM creation and management of designers. Management of the CNC machine and welding services materials inventory and budget management of all welding / assembly activities.


Primary Job Duties and Responsibilities 

Ensure compliance with company QA/QC procedures and code requirements. Interpret engineered drawings, sketches, specifications, and customer requirements for field and shop repair and fabrication projects. Manage all quality-related documentation. Work with Authorized Inspector to ensure compliance with code documentation. Prepare for and manage code stamp audits and customer quality control audits. Drive continuous improvement of QA/QC program. QA / QC function of all manufactured products. Create BOM, shop drawings with the assistance of two (2) designers. Work closely with sales in the creation of BOMS and proper, code compliant selection of all materials, valves, fittings and other ancillary devices. Work with other resources to develop manufacturing drawings for all products.

  • Maintain and update QA / QC manual. Develop quality improvement programs and implement innovative production/manufacturing methods.

  • Generate the design and layout for Plant Equipment

  • Work and communicate with fabricators and sub-suppliers to achieve optimum and most cost-effective component design

  • The above work will be accomplished in 3D, utilizing SolidWorks software

  • Able to work independently with minimal supervision

  • Able to work effectively with co-workers, subordinates and supervisors and customers.

  • Able to participate in a team environment on assigned projects executing process engineering  deliverables.

  • Develop thorough knowledge of the project scope and schedule as they apply to QA/QC.

  • Know ASME Code Material specification and appropriate use

  • Perform any additional responsibilities as requested or assigned.


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering with emphasis in welding, materials and/or mechanical or industrial disciplines. PhD or licensed PE a positive.

  • Five or more years of related experience, in a manufacturing or production environment, including three years of supervisory/management responsibilities.

  • Proven history of progressively responsible leadership ability.

  • Ability to lead in a team-based  environment.

  • Effective analytical, problem-solving and decision-making skills.

  • Project management skills;  ability to prioritize and handle multiple issues and projects concurrently

  • Ability to engage in multiple tasks at a time without losing concentration.

  • Good temperament to deal with people in all situations.

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, in English, to effectively communicate with clients, manufacturers, and co-workers.

  • Ability to maintain focus  during distractions that could arise during productions.

  • Must be able to follow instructions to the minutest detail to ensure accuracy.

  • Ability to generate and present  design equipment review presentations to both small and large group.

  • Knowledge in MS Office and other MFG. software

  • Efficiently organize and plan work tasks to meet company goals.

  • Possess excellent organizational and time management skills

  • Possess strong interpersonal skills
