With a dedicated back-office team of 60 supporting 14 Business Development Officers (BDOs), we ensure that you have everything you need to optimize your performance and productivity. We work with small businesses on well-priced, larger, and more complex SBA deals, often 2-3% over prime.
Job Overview:
As a Business Development Officer (BDO), you will be responsible for sourcing, developing, and managing relationships with small business clients, helping them secure SBA loan solutions tailored to their unique needs. You will focus on identifying well-priced, larger, and more complex SBA loans, with a target pricing of 2-3% over prime. This role requires a consultative approach, sales expertise, and a deep understanding of SBA lending.
Key Responsibilities:
Develop and maintain a pipeline of SBA loan opportunities within designated markets (South/Southeast Florida, Mid-Atlantic, Atlanta, New Jersey/Philadelphia, NOVA).
Build and foster relationships with small business owners, referral partners, and other industry professionals.
Analyze borrower needs and develop customized SBA loan solutions, leveraging highly competitive terms.
Structure and present well-priced SBA loan deals, particularly larger and more complex transactions.
Collaborate with a seasoned SBA back-office team to ensure efficient loan processing and closing.
Represent the brand and deliver on our commitment to exceptional customer service and expertise in SBA lending.
Stay informed about SBA program changes, market trends, and competitive products to effectively position our offerings in the marketplace.
Qualifications:
Proven experience in SBA lending or a related field with a strong focus on business development and deal origination.
Established network of business owners, financial intermediaries, and referral sources.
Ability to structure complex SBA deals, focusing on higher-priced loans at 2-3% over prime.
Strong consultative sales skills and a passion for helping small businesses succeed.
Excellent communication, negotiation, and relationship-building skills.
Self-driven, goal-oriented, and able to work independently in a remote environment.
Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, or a related field is preferred.
