Mechanical Superintendent – Industrial Construction


Location: Baltimore Metro Area (including satellite office work as needed)


Position Overview


This role offers the opportunity to support the management of multiple industrial construction projects across the Baltimore area. Working closely with the Operations Manager and General Superintendents, the Mechanical Superintendent will oversee field activities, support manpower and resource planning, and help ensure projects are completed safely, on time, within budget, and in accordance with client expectations and company standards. Occasional work from a satellite office may be required.


Primary Responsibilities


The Mechanical Superintendent is responsible for coordinating daily with the Operations Team to support active and upcoming projects, with oversight of mechanical service and installation tasks in industrial environments. Responsibilities include assisting with material buyouts to ensure alignment with project specifications and standards, expediting deliveries in coordination with project schedules, and communicating with subcontractors and suppliers.


This role also involves acting as a liaison between field operations and office staff by managing requests for information (RFIs) and ensuring that project drawings are current. The superintendent will participate in pre-construction and progress meetings with clients and subcontractors, and assist in various other duties as assigned.


Daily and Weekly Expectations


* Conduct daily check-ins with assigned job site foremen and operations staff via phone or in person

* Visit each job site at least once per week, or more frequently depending on project needs

* Monitor and document subcontractor progress as applicable

* Submit delivery tickets, invoices, and other documentation to the main office

* Work a typical schedule of 45–50 hours per week, with flexibility to adjust based on workload

* Availability for night and weekend work as dictated by client demands


Project Responsibilities


* Build strong working relationships with assigned clients through clear, consistent communication

* Relay project plans, updates, and issues to clients and foremen on a regular basis (daily, weekly, etc.)

* Maintain frequent communication with on-site supervision to monitor job progress and needs

* Coordinate equipment rentals as needed for assigned jobs

* Provide troubleshooting solutions during site visits and assist with problem resolution

* Conduct QA/QC inspections to confirm compliance with specifications and project objectives

* Collaborate with site supervision to create and execute detailed construction plans, factoring in material and labor needs

* Stay familiar with each site’s layout and client goals by conducting thorough site visits

* Maintain open communication with the Project Manager and Operations Manager on all updates, changes, or issues


Safety Responsibilities


* Conduct regular on-site inspections to ensure safety procedures are being followed

* Enforce company safety policies and initiate corrective action as necessary

* Track and manage specialty tools and equipment stored at the office

* Oversee PPE distribution and ensure all employees are properly equipped

Experience & Requirements


* 2–5 years of experience in millwrighting, ideally in industrial environments

* Knowledge of ASME codes and industry standards

* Familiarity with welding methods including SMAW, GTAW, and FCAW

* Willingness to work in a variety of settings, from food-grade to heavy industrial facilities

* Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation

* Must be a U.S. citizen or verified Green Card holder

* Ability to travel throughout the Baltimore metro area (from Aberdeen, MD to Washington, DC)

* Flexibility to work 40+ hours per week on either a 4/10 or 5/8 schedule, with overtime and night shifts as required

* Willingness to work beyond core trade duties when necessary
